Many are familiar with the expression “the silent majority,” but what about “the exhausted majority”? This was a term coined by the Hidden Tribes research project to describe the group of voters who make up a majority but who behave much differently than those who fall within partisan wings. The Exhausted Majority is characterized in this way:

  • They are fed up with the polarization plaguing American government and society
  • They are often forgotten in the public discourse, overlooked because their voices are seldom heard
  • They are flexible in their views, willing to endorse different policies according to the precise situation rather than sticking ideologically to a single set of beliefs
  • They believe we can find common ground

Feel familiar? You’re not alone.

The goal of Lift Politics is to give us exhausted people a place to gather and collect their voices to call for a better way in politics and actually be heard.

Lift is here to help accomplish this through our three “pillars” of Learn, Gather, and Support. Through the Learn pillar, we will spread knowledge and light about our principles, and share insights and strategies so we all know better how to engage and how to fight for the things we believe in. We will also be a gathering place for these exhausted voters or anyone who wants more humane and respectful politics, and for politicians or organizations who believe in and strive to live our principles. Gathering these voices together will change our collective ability to make an impact. Lastly, because we are not blind to the role of money in our politics, we will build a reservoir to provide financial support for candidates who embody our principles and allow them to better succeed in elections.

Let’s stop being an exhausted majority, and instead be a thriving majority with a thriving nation. Sign up for our newsletter and let’s ‘lift” politics together!
